Sara Alfieri
Author Profile
Sara Alfieri

Sara Alfieri is a design-driven ceramic artist and educator originally from Rochester, New York. She holds a BFA from Illinois State University and an MFA from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Alfieri explores perceptual psychology in design, architecture, and accessibility through CAD-designed, slip-casted vessels and architecturally-inspired structures. Deconstructing grids into compositional blueprints, she divides space to invite a deeper exploration of how we navigate and experience space, both visually and physically. By pairing digital fabrication with traditional hand-building methods, her studio practice highlights the intersection of contemporary and traditional processes. Alfieri currently resides in Kansas City where she teaches at the collegiate level and maintains an active studio practice.

By combining 3D-printed prototypes with a modular mold process, I learned to design not just objects, but frameworks capable of generating vessels that reflect architectural logic, spatial awareness, and material sensitivity.
