The Motopotter Series: Part 2 - North Carolina

Photo by Coley Krystyna Hey, it’s me Josh letting you know about the next leg of my @themotopotter adventure. Firstly, thank you to all of you who followed along for my ride along the Asparagus Valley Pottery Trail. I was floored by your support and interest, and had such a blast with all of the potters on the trail. Our friends at Take Magazine were kind enough to let me commandeer their Instagram account for the weekend – take a look back at the photos here.

My next motopotter adventure begins next week. I am headed down to Star, North Carolina, for the International Woodfire Conference to see friends, attend presentations and visit as many local studios as I can. Studio Potter founding editor Gerry Williams profiled “19 North Carolina Potters,” in Volume 3, Number 1, Summer 1974, and I am thrilled to be tracing his footsteps through the hills and along back roads of the South as he did over four decades ago.

The Seagrove region is home to over one hundred potteries, so I have my work cut out for me! However, I am always looking for local food suggestions or sights that shouldn’t be missed so please email me at themotopotter@gmail.com.
