Each spring, AKAR Gallery, hosts an online invitational show and sale of Yunomi. A yunomi (Japanese: 湯のみ) is a form of teacup, typically made from a ceramic material, being taller than wide, with a trimmed or turned foot. Invited potters may choose to donate the proceeds of one or more of their yunomi to Studio Potter. For more than six years, this fundraiser has been a success not only in raising substantial funds for SP, but also in raising awareness about the Studio Potter mission and reinforcing bonds with readers, potters, and craftspeople. To learn more, read Mary Barringer's interview with Sanjay and Jigna Jani, owners of AKAR Gallery, in Volume 42, Number 2, Summer 2014. Thank you, Jigna, Sanjay and all of the participating potters for your generosity in partnering with us.
Artaxis is an evolving independent source of peer-reviewed contemporary artwork in ceramics and sculpture. In an effort to promote dialog and connectivity among our respective membership communities, Artaxis and SP established a mutual member benefit program in 2014. All artaxis members receive a 50% discount on their Studio Potter membership, and Studio Potter members receive a discount on their application fee to become a member of Artaxis.
The American Craft Council (ACC) is a national, nonprofit educational organization with a mission to promote understanding and appreciation of contemporary American craft. ACC publishes a bimonthly magazine, American Craft, hosts annual juried shows presenting artists and their work, gives awards, maintains a specialized library, hosts various workshops, seminars and conferences, and much more. Recognizing that we have similar missions and a common community of makers and readers, SP and ACC established a mutual member discount program in 2014. ACC members receive a discount to SP, and vice versa.
