Bonnie Kemske

Bonnie Kemske, an American living in Britain, is an artist and writer. Her sculptural ceramic work uses touch to “provide comfort in a frightening world.” With a PhD from the Royal College of Art, London, she publishes academically and in various art magazines, and was the Editor of Ceramic Review, 2010 – 2013. She published The Teabowl: East and West with Bloomsbury Publications in 2017, giving an historical context for this venerated ceramic form, as well as exploring its contemporary manifestations. Her new book, Kintsugi (publication January 2021 in UK/Australia; March 2021 in US), tells the story of this Japanese lacquer and gold repair technique by weaving together its history, contemporary use, and strong metaphor.
