Mary Barringer, Editor. Mary has been an independent studio artist since 1973, making both functional pottery and sculpture. She has exhibited internationally and taught at universities and craft centers across the country. She was named editor in 2002.

Rostislav Eismont, Art Director. Rosti is a designer, potter, painter. He apprenticed to John Glick under a Tiffany grant and was a resident potter at Penland School. His tenure as Art Director began with Volume 10, Number 1.

Karin Rothwell, Proofreader. Karin is an active potter and teaches at the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen in Hanover, NH. She frequently travels abroad with her husband Steve, a professional musician.

Gerry Williams, Emeritus Founding Director of Studio Potter since its initial issue in 1972, Gerry is a practicing professional potter with over forty-five years of experience. He and his wife Julie traveled, interviewed, wrote and lectured about issues of concern to potters throughout the US and abroad.

Julie Williams, Emeritae Founding Business Manager, is a graduate of Wellesley College. For years was a prominent radio personality in New Hampshire. She has been associated with Studio Potter in strategic positions since its founding. Julie passed away on February 24, 2009.

Tom O’Malley, Chair and Convener of the Nominating Committee. Tom is head of the ceramics program at the Worcester Center for Crafts in Worcester, MA. Tom did his undergraduate work at Alfred University and has an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. worcestercraftcenter.org

Lynn Gervens, Secretary. Lynn is the Executive Director of Mudflat Pottery School and Studio in Somerville, MA. She received her BFA from the University of Illinois, and has been a studio artist and faculty member at Mudflat since 1978. She has lead professional development workshops and has been a visiting instructor at many Boston area ceramic schools and programs. She is a member of the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s Peer Advisor Network. mudflat.org

Harriet Brisson, Development Committee. Harriet’s articles on ceramics have appeared in Studio Potter, Ceramic Review, NCECA Journal, and Ceramics Monthly. She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally. She is Professor Emeritus, Rhode Island College in Providence, RI where she taught ceramics and design. Joan Sinatra Hathaway, Development Committee. Joan has been a studio potter since 1973. Along with operating Sunburst Pottery, Joan has been a Museum administrator and educator working at both the DeCordova Museum in Lincoln, MA and the Fitchburg Art Museum in Fitchburg, MA. Maureen Mills, Finance Committee. Maureen earned a BA in Chemistry from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois and completed her MFA in ceramics and drawing from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She has been a potter on the NH seacoast for 21 years, sharing a studio with her husband and potter Steven Zoldak. She is currently the Chairperson for the ceramics department at the New Hampshire Institute of Art in Manchester, NH. Her recent book, Surface Design for Ceramics, was recently released by Lark Books and is a compendium of techniques for all types of clay surface treatments.

Nicholas Sevigney, Marketing Committee. Nick receivedÊhis BFA from the Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford in Connecticut and an MFA from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. HeÊhas been teaching for the past thirteen yearsÊand is presently assistant professor of art and coordinator for the ceramics program at Plymouth State University in Plymouth, NH. Susan Silverman is currently an Assistant Professor in Fine Arts at Franklin Pierce University. She studied at the University of Colorado, Boulder and received her MFA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 2005. Since 1982, she has operated a production pottery studio next to her home in Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire.

Paula Sibrack-Marian, Marketing Committee. Paula lives in Sherman, CT and has been an exhibiting potter since 1970. She holds a Master’s degree in Ceramics from Eastern Michigan University. Paula is head of the Art Department at New Milford High School, where she teaches Ceramics and Graphic Design. In addition to active membership in NCECA, she is a member of Connecticut Clay Artists and is on the board of The National K12 Ceramic Exhibition Foundation. Work.

Kathy King, Development Committee Convener. Kathy is currently a studio artist in Boston, MA. She received her M.F.A. from University of Florida in Gainesville, FL in 1998 and since then has shown her work nationally and internationally.Ê She has taught and given lectures at over fifty colleges, schools and art centers throughout the US. kathykingart.com

Nancy Magnusson, Marketing Committee Convener. Nancy discovered the joys and trials of ceramics after a career in Information Technology. Her second career as a studio potter has included studio manager, workshop organizer, ceramic arts project manager, pottery teacher, and mentor. She has taught at IS183 in Stockbridge, MA, at the Alison Palmer Studio in Kent, CT, at Expressions in Granby, CT, in her studio-barn in Tolland, MA, and exhibits regionally.

Linda Arbuckle. Linda is a ceramic artist and has exhibited in numerous national shows. Her specialty is surface decoration, with an emphasis on majolica. Linda is Professor of Art at the University of Florida, Gainesville. Web Site.

Frank Boyden. Frank is a prominent ceramic artist and sculptor from the northwest. Educated at Yale, he is widely known for his woodfiring expertise, and has executed architectural commissions in many places including the Soviet Union.

Michael Boylen. Michael is trained in glass blowing as well as in ceramics. He is a writer and has traveled extensively in Mexico and Europe. He teaches ceramics at Marlboro College, Vermont.

Cynthia Bringle. Cynthia is a distinguished potter and a popular teacher. She has conducted workshops in ceramics throughout the country, including Haystack School and Penland School. She works and lives at her studio at Penland, North Carolina.

Louise Allison Cort. Editorial Associate. Assistant Curator for Ceramics, Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, Smithsonian Institution, Washington DC. She is the author of Shigaraki, Potters' Valley and Seto and Mino Ceramics.

John Glick. A nationally-known ceramic artist, John has taught many workshops both in this country and abroad. He is widely admired for his vigorous functional forms and glazes. He lives in Michigan where he and his wife Susie Simon have a studio and home. plumtreepottery.com

Gary Hatcher. A ceramic artist, writer and educator working in Texas, Gary Hatcher is known for his glazed wood fired work using a bourry box kiln. He is also Professor and Department of Art Chair at The University of Texas at Tyler. Kristen Kieffer. Kristen Kieffer served on the SP Board Marketing Committee for three years before becoming an adviser. She is a full-time studio potter and workshop instructor living outside Worcester, MA. Kristen has taught numerous workshops and exhibited widely throughout the United States. Mark Shapiro is a potter who lives in western Massachusetts. He has written reviews and essays for various publications in the field and and is a frequent panelist, demonstrator and workshop leader. His interviews of Karen Karnes and Michael Simon (which were published in an edited version in SP) are available at the Archives of American Art at the Smithsonian Institution. Forrest Snyder. An artist, writer, and website designer, Forrest resides in Dorchester, MA where he constantly refines his experiential education. His artistic interests include history, technology, architecture, sculpture, mixed media and all those nifty spaces they intersect.
